Branding checkups: How our clinics treated budget-conscious businesses

Throughout July and August we held our inaugural brand clinics. We’ve been loving helping businesses, especially those watching their wallets (which, let’s face it, just about everyone at the moment) level up their branding with quick, professional advice. No massive investment, no fluff - just real, actionable solutions to take their brands to the next level.

Take a look at some success stories from our recent sessions.

Patient #1: The mentor/coach who needed some direction

Problem:
This coach came in with no logo, no direction, but plenty of questions. They were craving a bit of clarity - was their brand on the right track? They also wanted tips on how to make their documents less boring. It was a really familiar conversation “help me get this thing going because I’m stalling under the guise of wanting to do it ‘right’”

Solution:
Start where you are. In under 40 minutes, this patient whipped up a fresh, typographic logo on Canva. With some advice on fonts and colour choices, they left with a simple yet polished mark. We also workshopped their name and tagline to sharpen up their messaging. Plus, a few tips on using pops of colour and white space to give their documents a much-needed glow-up.

Patient #2: The creative duo overloaded with ideas

Problem:
Overflowing with creativity but with no visual consistency, this social media and marketing duo needed help aligning their vision and taming their brand chaos. Conflicting opinions between partners didn't help either!

Solution:
Pinterest to the rescue! We worked through their favorite ideas and aligned on a colour palette and style they both loved. Brand guidelines were the next step, giving them enough structure to keep their visuals cohesive while leaving room for their own brand of maximalism. Our final advice: In the words of Coco Chanel “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” Or in this case, take a look at your post and remove one element! 

Patient #3: Landscaper seeks brand application guidance

Problem:
This landscaper had some branding set up, but unsure of how to apply it across various mediums. In their first year of business, they were juggling all the things and needed practical advice on how to make their brand work.

Solution:
We provided clarity on where and how to use their logo—what works, what doesn’t, and when to break the rules. Plus, a quick chat about Adobe design programs helped set them up to create their own mood boards and design materials with confidence.

Patient #4: The bootstrapped tech manufacturer

Problem:
With no marketing or branding budget, this tech company needed cost-effective ways to make an impact and build their brand, one small step at a time.

Solution:
We brainstormed affordable marketing tactics - like optimising social media and gathering  media kits - while focusing on building relationships with communicators and industry peers for future campaigns. For now, we advised keeping their branding simple and polished, with plans to ramp up when they’re ready to invest more.
