If you're like me, you have some sort of mental whiplash from 2024 and are looking forward to a break.
It's been a funny ol' year with the economy but I feel like things may be starting to come right.
Christmas can be so stressful on a good day never mind on top of a year where the cost of living crisis has been ravishing a lot of people and their businesses.
Lisa O'Neill wrote on her social channels "Money is a shitty thing for a lot of people. And this is the time of year when it gets really stressful! Finding extra cash to buy gifts and food and holidays can be tough. I think that two of the best gifts to give at Christmas are generosity & honesty. If you have money, be generous. If you don’t have any money, be honest!"
Lisa always provides an interesting perspective, her energy is boundless (how?!)
Generosity and Honesty is the theme of our last update (thanks for the inspo Lisa) for the year. I wish you all the best for Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Generosity
Our pals at Aroha Avenue believe that every gift box should carry a deeper meaning, something that resonates with a recipient’s wairua (spirit). The boxes aren’t just a collection of beautiful items, but stories, memories, smells and tastes that connect you to the Māori world.
Honesty
Our clients at Levin Budget Services have not only launched their brand spanking new website created by us but also posted a blog on why it's ok to be the Grinch this Christmas, it's a quick and easy read, well worth the time.
Latest projects
Levin Budget Service website
As we mentioned earlier, we've been working with Levin Budget Services to develop an identity that will hopefully discourage the shame and judgement when it comes to reaching out for help with money matters. Their new website is now live!
We’ll be putting more on this project up on the website soon.
Reflections
The last 6 months have been full of projects that felt so aligned to my values, from family-friendly exhibitions, to helping not-for-profits elevate their services with their brand and marketing, I am ending the year on a bit of a 'work high' and am super grateful for the work and the people who I get to meet along the way.
I'm really looking forward to carrying on these good vibes through to 2025 with the fifth edition of the Womanhood Journal and finishing off some other projects for not-for-profits.
Gratitude for the coming break and getting back to traditional media over the holiday period, weaving, painting and dreaming up new personal projects. Creativity without a computer.
As the tradition dictates, we reflect on our year through our advent calendar is cranking on the Lemonface Creative socials, take a look at the diversity in our work this year.
Lemonface Lens
@lemonfacelens is a Lemonface outlet for creative expression, a place for play and joy. Here are a few views through the lens that stood out for us this month.
I've been in the garden again, obsessed with raindrops hanging off of long grass and sitting on roses. Don't forget to stop and look at the macro world every now and then, it's magical.
Boo the Dragon
Poor Boo, she’s put up a lot from me this year, especially with my modelling expectations, she’s such a good sport. For Christmas this year she has received a new carry case so she can come with me on my adventures this summer, vitamin D here we come!
Catch you all in January.
